are there any air traffic control simulations that are pretty close to a real ATC job?

keylogga13 asked:

Besides the planes and people and stress being fake, are there any air traffic control simulations like on the computer that you can buy that are pretty close to the real thing. I mean like using a mic and the lingo and everything too. I am thinking about trying to become an air traffic controller and i want to experience the closest thing to the real thing. Any sites or info greatly appreciated, Thanks

On Flight Simulator X i’m trying to land a boeing 737-800. I’ve tried using Trim/Pitch and also flaps but all they do is point the nose downwards sharply but I want to cruise down slowly with the nose pointing upwards but still droping and just kiss down gently to the runway ???

How did the Boeing and Airbus aircraft get their names?

January 29th, 2012 | Posted in ATC   Comments Off
Andrew asked:

For instance, with the 700 line of Boeing’s commercial aircraft-why would they pick 707,717,727,737,747,757, and so on? Also, for Airbus aircraft, why would they pick A300, A310, A318, A319, A320, A321, and so on? I know that some of the names indicate modifications (the A318 and A319 indicate shorter versions of the A320), but how did the original series of the Boeing and Airbus aircraft get their names?

I’m not looking for imprisonment, just a cavity search.

What airport should I fly into in San Francisco?

January 25th, 2012 | Posted in ATC   Comments Off
iheartcavs asked:

Hi I’m planning on taking a trip to San Fran in July. I’ve been there one other time and flew out of the San Jose airport. Don’t wanna do that again. My friend told me not to fly into the main SFO airport but I can’t remember why. There are several other airports listed for the San Francisco/bay area. What do you recommend? I will not have a car so I will need transportation from the airport to the hotel.
Thanks! I’d like to just fly into the main one - any reason not to?

Do you think American Airlines should definitely switch the Airbus 300-600 aircrafts for a newer kind?

Please let me know what you think about my question! I am an AA frequent traveler and I am concerned the Airbus 300-600 are getting a bit too old for such a distinguished airline to operate them!
