Ali Bitazar asked: What is C4I? C4I stands for Command, Control, Communications, Computers and military Intelligence. These days C4I is famous throughout the civilian and military world. This system allows the commanders or executive officers to control resources such as personnel, equipment and money. C4I is very much necessary for military decision making and force management. C4I segment of military market is receiving an increased share of overall spending from the US department of defense (Dod). It covers a wide range of companies and contracts and highly important issues.
Civilian government includes the air traffic control systems, drug enforcement, law enforcement agency systems and various emergency systems. Military systems include national level crisis management systems. These systems basically include the equipment, people and procedures necessary to accomplish the mission. C4I mainly focuses on theory and practice of C4I and prepares students for careers in research, design and development of C4I systems. Developing C4I architecture is critical to ensure consistent implementation.
Main focus of C2 is decision making. C2 systems provide decision makers facilities, ultra modern weapons available with them. Around 100 to 200 billion value of money has been spending each year to upgrade their weapons. C2 systems have been the main important in researching nuclear weapon also. The department’s emphasis on the ability to respond the regional crises and tactical C2 are critical especially during decrease in their force. In the past years major moves have been made to align there are various researches going around the world to increase military technologies strength as well as safe guard from the unknown attackers even from the enemy. National intelligence - It is the greater thing happened so far after the cold war cratered a place to provide national intelligence support to US defense strategy. Defense information systems agency
DISA is the support agency responsible for planning, developing, and providing information services to support the National Command Authorities and the war fighter.
DISA is also pursuing the Commercial Satellite Communications Initiative, a congressionally mandated effort to apply similar strategies to leased SATCOM services.
Defense mapping agency, National Security agency are some of the other agencies which are based on C4I. The Dod is focusing its C4I programs to maximize the benefits for the war fighter in this changing environment. With C4I programs the department wants to address most of the defense related issues being faced currently and to avoid any issues in future. C4I interoperability successes have been abundant from 2000 but it is evident from the current operations that its allies and coalition partners need further improvements to master the interoperability.
